DIY Plant Based Vegan Smoothies! YUM!

Recipe – Per Smoothie:

Fruit: ½ to 1 Cup of sliced or chopped fruit, fresh or frozen.
-Bananas, berries, peaches, mangos, pineapples are all good choices.

Liquid: ½ to 1 Cup
– Juice, soy milk, rice milk, Almond milk are all good choices. Fresh coconut milk works but it will give a coconut flavor to it. Do not use canned.

Optional Flavorings up to ½ t recommended or to taste…*CHEF’S NOTES: 1. Be carful adding too many varieties, 1 or 2 is generally best, and think of what you are putting in with it and if it goes with it. 2. Start with a few dashes if you are experimenting with a new flavor. 3. You may want to do half or a ¼ of the recipe to experiment first.
-Ground cinnamon or other spice –vanilla extract, zest from a lemon, lime, or orange, coconut flakes, honey, or maple syrup, cocoa, coffee are some good choices.

Thickener up to ½ Cup
-ice, almond yogurt, silken tofu… frozen or frigerated are all good choices. Coconut yogurt is good, but it will give a coconut taste to it.

Additions for added nutrition (optional) – to taste – See CHEF’S NOTES* above.
-nut butter (without sugar, salt, or oil added, nuts, seeds, nutritional yeast, wheat germ, oats, or other grains, spinach or other leafy veg.

Other Chef Tips: If adding frozen ingredients, you may want to hold off on the ice. Freeze slices of fruits about to go back in Zip Lock bags.
