Benefits
Fruitarian to raw meat and fruit
Hopping from one extreme diet (fruitarian) to another (raw meat/fruits), with unwavering conviction for both, without recognizing that both stem from the same fundamental issue—an obsession with extreme dietary purity and a rejection of balanced, evidence-based nutrition—is something we need to start addressing. This underlying fixation on extremes, rather than health and sustainability, harms the vegan community and promotes disordered eating patterns that can lead to long-term health issues, both mental and physical.
I hope people like this eventually seek help from a registered dietitian, preferably one specializing in eating disorders, as well as a mental health professional who can address the underlying psychological factors driving extreme dietary behaviors.
And to be clear, I don’t believe a raw vegan diet is necessarily unhealthy if it includes adequate supplementation. However, I also don’t think there are any unique benefits to such a diet that couldn’t be achieved through a well-balanced vegan diet that includes a mix of cooked and raw foods, along with proper supplementation.
