Celery is a fantastic source of many minerals and electrolytes, including magnesium. Celery helps to encourage the natural relaxation of the muscles in the blood vessel walls. Working side by side with calcium to regulate the contraction and relaxation of all muscles in the body. Calcium makes muscle fibres contract, whereas magnesium makes the fibres relax. Increasing dietary sources of magnesium can help to encourage this natural physiological occurrence. Celery also contains an array of chemicals such as an interesting group called coumarins.
