Today’s juice is one of my all time favourites and I call it the ‘building block juice’. Packed with Spinach and Kale it is high in iron, protein and minerals. Let me break it down for you below:
Protein is a major part of our skin, muscles, organs, and glands. We need it in our day to day diet to assist, repair and make new cells. Let’s face it foodies, proteins are the building blocks of our physical life. Every cell in our body contains protein.
As we grow older the quantities of how much protein we need to eat daily will alter due to the individual and the changes with age, activity level and general health conditions. When I was studying my diploma on nutrition last year I learnt that the GDA for protein is 46 grams for adult women and is 56 for adult men. Many of us exceed this and some of us don’t reach it so again it’s all about finding a balance and by understanding the food we eat we can adequately maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle whilst simultaneously equipping the body with all it needs to stay strong 💪
One cup of this spinach, kale cucumber & apple juice will give you 261 calories and 54 grams of carbohydrates. It will also give you almost 3,000 milligrams of potassium and 16 grams of protein.
Impressively you are also getting more than half of your recommends daily allowance of 4 vitamins: B Vitamin 6, C and Vitamin A – as well as over 50% of minerals such as Iron, calcium and Folate.
1/4 of a whole cucumber
